2007 ~ 1300 grams per pair!
A very light wheelset for climbing and fast rides yet tough enough and serviceable enough for everyday use! At 350 grams, one of the lightest clincher rims in the world yet no hidden nipples or strange spokes so it's easily serviced anywhere. Carries a rider weight limit of 200 pounds. Available in black or silver with cassette body for Campagnolo or Shimano cogsets. And for you triathletes, yes we have 650c too! Micro-smooth ceramic bearings and ultralight Sapim CX-Ray spokes* are available options. The upgrade prices include bearings or spokes for both wheels.
"As I have run out of thumbs to put up after reviewing other sets from AmClassic, and because the Pez won’t let me stick anything else “up” in celebration, I will just say these are a super wheel-set that should cost 200 bucks + more…" Pez Cycling News
"Train, race, climb, thrash dirt roads, ping through gravel, shellac them with ice - all in a season's work for the wheel we believe provides the best combination of decent weight, durability, fix-ability, affordability, spin-up, and cruising speed. Sapim spokes (to cut 100 grams) and ceramic bearings are tempting options." SRP $750. Bicycling Magazine, April 2007
American Classic wheels are built with top quality AC butted stainless spokes. If you would like to drop another 1/4 lb per wheel, you can upgrade to 14/17 gauge double butted spokes from Sapim. These spokes have proven their durability over the past 3 years in the Tour de France, Hawaii Ironman, and every other top race in the world.
