Important update, April 2008: Dario is doing well, but he’s been a little under the weather.
His immune system is still pretty weak and it seems like he’s always catching
some bug or other. But, he is building as best he can and we are receiving
custom ordered frames quite regularly.
Original info: After extensive testing, Dario learned that he has
lymphoma cancer. He
will be undergoing chemotherapy over the next several months and rest assured,
the diagnosis is
very good. Our prayers are with Dario, our dear friend and one of the truly great
gentlemen of our sport.
We are accepting new
orders, but only under the understanding that we cannot provide a delivery
estimate at this time. The most optimistic projection is that the frames we
order now will be ready in 6-8 months. However, expect Responsorium frames to
take at least a year as tubing is in extremely short supply. On behalf of Dario, we greatly
appreciate your patience and good wishes during his continued recovery.
Dario Pegoretti, one of the most respected framebuilders in all of Italy,
began his apprenticeship in 1975 with the legendary builder Luigino Milani of
Verona. In those days, racing pelotons often had half their racers on Milani
bikes, though usually under someone else's decals. Top riders such as Roche, Battaglin, Chiappucci, Indurain, Tafi, Cipollini, Ghiroto, Fondriest, and many
others relied on the Milani shop for their race bikes. Dario finished his
apprenticeship in 1983 but continued building in the Milani shop until 1999. He
then moved to his current one-room shop nearTrento where he and his 2
assistants build about 600 frames per year - all by hand. The hand painted cosmetics
make each Pegoretti frame a true one-of-a-kind masterpiece. (pictured on

"I sent an email to Dario Pegoretti a
day or so ago and got a response back today. SURPRISE !!! I told him that you
would measure me and send him the measurements. HE RAVED ABOUT YOU!!! In his
exact words: "gooooooo to Kyle , the man have the experience!!!!" I.K, Va 11/06

For quite some time, Dario Pegoretti has been working on a revolutionary
frame of pure stainless steel. Not only is this frame the most supple Dario has
ever make, it won't rust or corrode like other steels. The tubing is the brand
new Columbus XCr stainless with Reynolds Ouzo Pro full carbon fork. The tubing
diameters are the same as Dario's Marcelo except the chainstays are 2mm less
stout. Also, the butted sections are longer and the tubing walls thinner than
the Marcelo. The end
result is one of the most comfortable frames ever made. Yet like every
Pegoretti, it has tremendous jump when power is applied.
2008 colors: The Responsorium is now offered in a blue with green trim
called "Spider" (pictured on left) as well as the hand painted "Ciavete" paint
scheme (pictured on right). Each Ciavete takes a full day to painstakingly paint
by hand and no two are alike. The Spider is a gorgeous pro finish while the
Ciavete is a masterpiece of art for a masterpiece frame!
First ride feedback: Only a few riders
have been lucky enough to test ride one of these beauties,
but the early feedback is every bit as positive as Dario suggested. Riders
report that these frames are decidedly more buttery and lively than any other
frame they've been on. If possible, the comfort surpasses even a great titanium
frame, yet the ride retains the solid road feel of the finest steel. Great stuff
for those of you who appreciate superior road feel and manners. Kyle's personal
review will be posted as soon as he can do an extensive test on one in his fit.
All sizes have a waiting list gemear;;u of
apx 9 months. A
$500 deposit puts you next in line. The balance is not charged until the day the
frame ships to you.
The "Big Leg Emma" is Dario's update of his favorite frame, the Great Googoolie. The Emma is like a Marcelo on steroids! Dario beefed up both the
chainstays and seatstays for an even more solid rear end. And as in the great sprinter
bikes of the '60s, he built additional horizontal reinforcing struts inside
the
tubing for
added acceleration (pictured on left). The tubing is a special
heat treated low alloy steel made exclusively for Dario. The fork is a Reynolds
Ouzo Pro, all carbon. Steerer tube is 1 1/8", frame weight is 4.2 lbs in 54cm.
Color is orange, but all stock Pegoretti colors are available on special order.
"Named after a Frank Zappa song, the hugely oversize
steel rig is built for the larger or more aggressive rider/racer looking for
maximum lateral stability without sacrificing vertical compliance. Notice the
massive oversize chainstays which provide massive rear stability. An internally
reinforced downtube provides stability up front.
Surprisingly, this bike built with Record 10-speed weighed-in at only 17 pounds!"

49cm in orange is available now.

Marcelo
~
A spectacular frame for all kinds of riding, the Marcelo is built
from a custom tubeset of
heat treated Columbus "Spirit" tubing. Oversized to 38
and 31.7 mm main tubes, this frame is stout enough for
even the most aggressive rider. Yet, it absorbs road shock like a magic carpet. The hand cut
stainless
steel rear
dropouts and custom drawn
stress-directional rear stays add to the beauty and function of this spectacular
frame. The Marcelo comes with a Reynolds Ouzo Pro full carbon fiber fork and requires an 1 1/8" threadless headset plus a 29.4 seatpost.
The finish is beautifully done in "Why Not" blue, pictured on upper
left. A new color for later in 2008, "Baci White", is pictured on right. Weight is 3.8 lbs
in size 54.

This is an update of the Fina Estampa, our most popular Pegoretti frame
ever. It's made from a lighter and even more efficient Scandium matrix tube set,
Columbus XLR8R, all custom drawn exclusively for Dario. If you are a powerful rider that lusts for acceleration, this is
the frame! Extremely stiff rear triangle, yet matched to a very forgiving front end,
the Love is perfect for the most aggressive racer as well as the all day rider.
2.2 lb Scandium matrix (50cm) with 1
1/8" threadless carbon fiber fork. Color is "You Really" orange as pictured on
upper right or "Manovella black.white as pictured on left.
Pictured on right, custom Love#3 that is the personal bike
of '06 Tour de France winner, Floyd Landis. The quotes were
inspired by Jack Handey's "Deep Thoughts" on Saturday Night Live.
Available in "Monovella" black.white: 51, 56, 57, 58, 59, and 60cm!
Duende,
2008 ~
An important new cromoly frame from Pegoretti, the Duende is
essentially a Marcelo
front triangle matched to a Palasanto rear triangle. The result is a frame not
quite as stiff as a Marcelo but even more comfortable. According to Dario, the
new Duende should be a marvelous frame for everyone who doesn't crave the extra
stiffness of the Marcelo. For all except our largest riders, it should be a
wonderful frame for century rides - the perfect work of art for those who
refuse to give up comfort or efficiency. Tubing is heat treated low alloy
"Spirit" cromoly from Columbus, fork is 1 1/8" Reynolds Ouzo Pro - full carbon.
Weight is 3.9 lbs for 54cm. 2008 color is "ABVD", a very nice medium
gray with contrasting graphics as pictured.
Available now: 51 and 55 cm!
Luigino Special Edition,
2008
~
Pegoretti is releasing a limited number of these stunning lugged frames by
special order only. For these special frames,
Dario uses Columbus heat treated Nivacrom EL-OS cromoly tubing on frame and fork with hand cut investment cast lugs and a special
commemorative double layer fork crown reminiscent of the legendary steel frames
of the '50s and '60s. Beautifully finished in your choice of several classic 2
color paneled works of art.
Steerer tube on the fork is 1" threadless. Frame weight is 4.2 lbs for a
52cm. Available in Dario's time tested geometries or custom designed exclusively
for your perfect fit.
8:30 am,
2008 ~
"A
ride that is unequalled at this price point!"
The new 8:30 am (named for the time Dario starts building
every morning) is patterned directly after the pro issue Love
frame. However, instead of
using extra-resilient Scandium tubing, the 8:30 am uses an aluminum-based
Columbus
Altec II 7005 metal matrix. The result is a frame that weighs a mere
1/2 lb more
than the Love and has a bit less road grip. Yet, it retains the
legendary Pegoretti ride at a price that is unsurpassed for a frame of this
superb quality. The 8:30 includes an 1 1/8" Reynolds
Ouzo Pro full carbon fork specifically designed for each 8:30 frame. Weight is 3.3 lbs for 54cm. Color is red.
51 and 60 cm available now!
Wait-list for all other sizes.
